Main Story
Former Arsenal striker Eduardo da Silva has signed a deal with the Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk.
The 27 year old Brazilian-born Croatian international appeared 67 times for Arsenal, netting 20 goals. In February 2008, Eduardo was severely injured in a Premier League game at Birmingham City. After nearly 12 months of rehabilitation, Eduardo was welcomed back to the first team in an FA Cup match against Cardiff City by scoring a brace. The following round against Burnley saw Eduardo score one of the goals of the year with an incredible volley.
Speaking to Arsenal.com he said 'I would just like to thank everyone for your support during my time at Arsenal. When I first came to England, I could not speak the language and knew nobody, but as soon as I arrived I was made to feel at home and part of this big family. Also, I want to say thank you to the Arsenal supporters - you have been fantastic to me and always sung my name and I will never forget this.’
Eduardo added ‘Although I have now left the Club, Arsenal will always be in my heart. I will always look for the Arsenal results and of course, I wish Arsène Wenger and the great players at the Club well for next season and the future.’
Everyone at SEM would like to wish Eduardo the best of luck with the next chapter of his career.
