Nathaniel Wedderburn signs for Northampton

Northampton Town have signed former Stoke City central midfielder Nathaniel Wedderburn on a 2 year deal.

Nathaniel won the academy player of the year at Stoke City in his first season at the Potters, playing regularly for the youth team and the reserves. He did not appear for Stoke City's first team, but was named on the substitutes bench on a number of occasions. He had loan spells at Notts County in 2008/09 and Hereford United in the 2009/10 season and was called up to the England Under 19 squad in October 2009.

His new boss Ian Sampson said "Nathaniel is a young player who I think has got a lot of potential. He was outstanding when Hereford beat us at Sixfields last season. I have kept an eye on him since and as soon as I knew he was available I was keen to bring him here. He is big and strong and has a good left foot. He gets stuck in and can handle himself well."

Everyone at SEM would like to wish Nathaniel well for the new season as he aims to help Northampton gain promotion to League 1.
