Tim Flowers

About

Tim began his career at Wolves in 1984 and established himself in their first team at the age of 18. A technically proficient keeper, Tim was strong, agile with good handling, quick to read danger and a tremendous shot-stopper.

Southampton signed the 19-year-old in 1986 and he soon established himself as the Saints' number one in the late '80s. After making 192 appearances by 1993, after rejecting an approach from Liverpool, Tim decided to join Kenny Dalglish's Blackburn Rovers for £2.4million. This made him the most expensive goalkeeper in England at the time. He went on to win a Premiership winner's medal with Blackburn in 1995.

When Blackburn were relegated in 1999 Tim transferred to Leicester City where he won the League Cup in his first season and a five-year stint there also included loan moves to Stockport County, Manchester City and his boyhood club Coventry City.

Tim Flowers also played 11 games for his country and made the squad for Euro 96 and the 1998 World Cup in France.

He retired as a professional player following the 2002-2003 season and decided to continue his career in the game as a coach, working for both Manchester City and Leicester City. In 2007 he joined Iain Dowie at Coventry City as Assistant Manager. After Dowie was sacked he followed him to QPR and then on 17th March 2010 he once again joined him as Assistant Manager at Hull City.
