Weekend Football Review
Rio Ferdinand’s Manchester United were crowned Premiership Champions, after Chelsea failed to beat Arsenal on Sunday. The Red Devils clinched their first title since 2003, without having to kick a ball and Sir Alex Ferguson paid tribute to his side. "There was an emphasis on the league and the key was our good start. Once we made that, we never lost it. The Premier League is such a competitive league and the focus and the pressure on the big clubs makes it a focus for us.”

The influence of Joseph Yobo was not enough to prevent the Champions elect from fighting back. Meanwhile, Mikkel’s Chelsea took the lead against David Thompson’s Bolton, only to relinquish it twice. The game finished 2-2 and took Chelsea’s title hopes with it.

Jerome Thomas was instrumental for Charlton as they continue their battle against relegation. The former Arsenal man struck a second half penalty to ensure the Addicks completed a 2-0 victory over Newcastle at the Valley. Meanwhile relegation rivals Manchester City won 2-0 away to Middlesbrough, but the result was marred by the injury to England right back Micah Richards, who remains a doubt for the qualifier with Israel.
